AML / Customer Due Diligence Notice
Last updated: 15/09/2026
Mason Fine Acquisitions is a dealer in precious metals and, as such, is subject to the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 ("the Regulations").
Why we ask for identification
Under the Regulations, businesses that deal in high-value goods — including gold, jewellery, watches and coins — are required to carry out customer due diligence on relevant transactions. This is not a reflection on you personally; it's a legal requirement that applies to every customer meeting the relevant criteria.
What we may ask for
Depending on the value and nature of a transaction, we may ask you to provide:
Proof of identity (such as a passport or driving licence)
Proof of address (such as a recent utility bill or bank statement)
In some cases, information about the origin or provenance of an item, particularly for inherited or estate items
How we handle this information
Any identification documents or personal information collected for due diligence purposes are stored securely, used only for compliance purposes, and retained for the minimum period required by law (currently 5 years from the date of the transaction). Please see our Privacy Policy for further detail on how we handle personal data.
Our commitment
We take our regulatory obligations seriously, both to comply with the law and to protect our customers and our business from the risk of handling stolen or illegitimately obtained items. If you have any questions about why we've asked for certain information, please don't hesitate to ask — we're happy to explain.
